Looking For A Win

It's the series finale today in Kansas City, as the Tigs send Jeremy Bonderman to the mound to try and get out of KC with a series win before heading to Baltimore tomorrow. The Tigs snapped a four game losing streak to the Royals yesterday and look to build on what was started yesterday, namely the hitting of the bigger bats in the line up.

One of the keys for today's game will be how Bondo starts his day. Last time he went out against the Blue Jays, he had a rocky first inning and that ended up costing the Tigers the game in the long haul. If he manages to start out hot, then there is a good chance he can continue that. The chilly weather conditions that the Tigers are enduring early on in the season definitely favor pitchers like Bondo, Justin Verlander and Joel Zumaya- guys who can throw some serious gas. There's nothing less appealing to a hitter than to get out of the nice, warm dugout to go hit in the freezing conditions on the field against a guy bringing it at 95 or 96.

Yesterday, the Tigs did what they do best: jumping out to an early lead and just keeping a stranglehold on that lead for nine innings. Look for that to happen again, as the Royals send Brandon Duckworth to face Detroit. The boys jumped all over Gil Meche for six runs yesterday, and a similar result today would be preferable.

Happy Easter to everyone and enjoy the game.
